Hola again friends, I was on my way out the door for a morning exercise walk, but it is chilly, windy and rainy. Sorry to say, but I am a fair weather athlete. I do love weather like this – however, I like it best with my laptop or a good book open, a cup of coffee, and a window open to hear the rain and appreciate my snug blanket. My husband Andreas just arrived in Austin from Germany for a few weeks. Of course, he IS out there for a run around Town Lake. Does this make me feel guilty (as I sip my cinnamon coffee…)? Um, no. Ok, so, I have been exploring new/old things back in Austin for a while. I have really been enjoying playing music again around town and Texas (and one lovely evening in Norman, Oklahoma!). I have been doing a residency Thursday nights at El Sol y La Luna with my long-time pal Marvin Dykhuis. We are having some nice times playing together again and enjoying some wonderful musician friends who have been dropping by and gracing our show – Chip Dolan, Adam Ahrens, Danny Britt, Hawthorne Bullock, Bluegrass Dave so far. Coming [...]

Queridos Amigos, I am in Austin, and from here it looks like the seasons decided to skip right over winter! It is clear blue sky today. I have my window open and birds are singing. Crazy as Texas weather can be, though, a smart Texan will always keep hat, coat, add gloves somewhere near the door. I know people laugh when a Texan says something like this, but it is true. It can be a perfectly warm sunny day one moment in February, then within a few hours, some wild weather system will blow in plunging temperatures (yes, snow and ice) and making people scratch their heads wondering “What happened!”. It is always funny around SXSW time (third week of February), when people come from cold places around the country and the world to the music conference assuming tropical weather. Arriving garbed in summer attire they are sometimes shocked to find temperatures in the 30's (around 0 celcius) or even colder and go running to the nearest thrift store to grab up a winter coat. I'm just saying – foreigners, don't take the warmth for granted, come to Austin prepared! Hmm, as I say this – do I see some [...]

Released on Varese Sarabande, 2008 WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW (by Buddy Cannon and Tish Hinojosa, Run Slow Music, ASCAP / Manazo Music, ASCAP What you don't know, is I'm still aching For a touch felt long ago. Time erases tears of passion, But the need for you won't go. (chorus) Tell me honey, if you're listening, Did you search and never find One whose heart would follow truly, As the one you left behind? We said love was ours forever, With our kisses in the dark. If you needed me tomorrow, I'd never be too far. I will hold in my heart, dear, A flame for you until I die. Somewhere near you my love resides, You must glow from such a light. ROAD SONGS AND BYGONES (by Tish Hinojosa, Manazo Music, ASCAP) Windmills and oildrills tower the fields, Farmhouses scattered around my windshield, Highways that carry our boxes of steel, Over these faultlines under my wheels. Histories, mysteries run thick and deep, Bloodlines and tall pines and mountains that speak Of heartaches and landscapes, dreamed by design, Questions unanswered these visions and signs. (chorus) Roadsongs and bygones, Rhythms and reels, Cut to the core Of my heart and more. [...]

Released on Rounder Records, 2000 SIGN OF TRUTH (by Tish Hinojosa, Manazo Music/ASCAP) I have laid some words out on the table. I have painted flowers on my door, And a bright tomorrow in the distance. Someday still wants more, Someday still wants more. In a world of greed and armed oppression, Saint and sinner pound the earthen floor, Where our banners sail above conviction, Someday still wants more, Someday still wants more. (chorus) More love! More youth! More hope, And soon! Success And money – yeah! A sign of truth. A sign of truth. Someday rumbles like an earthquake. Someday changes like the shore. Sanctuary for our blind ambition, Someday still wants more, Someday still wants more. MONA LISA BY THE RIO GRANDE (Lyrics by Tish Hinojosa, music by Tish Hinojosa and Marvin Dykhuis, Manazo Music/ASCAP, Jazzmo Music/BMI) Her life has been a mission She’s built with her own hands. Her eyes could tell a story, But then she holds it in. There’s a saying she remembers Of wisdom from a path unseen, Where city lights pour shadows Dancing through the doorways she’s been in. (chorus) She’s a lonely señorita, She wants the moon above, Wishing on [...]

(by Tish Hinojosa, Manazo Music/ASCAP) I remember the line of your face, What I feel is not mine to erase. Every road may find a lonesome end. Would you love me back again?
Dear Friends, It has been a very busy and memorable 2012. The beginning of the year was busy preparing for the big spring-summer tour, the middle was busy with “The Tour”, and after that was busy recovering from the tour. So here it is December and finally a warm greeting and a report: To recap cialis online without prescription 2012, the most important missions were to 1) finish and release the record that was begun in 2010, 2) to finish “the” DVD project, and 3) to make a cross-USA music tour. The record, I am very happy to report, although delayed, will be out spring of 2013! Sadly, the DVD project is once again on hold til further notice. The tour, I am very pleased to say, was quite a success and a fun accomplishment. So, I guess, two out of three is not bad! The road: I have played all over the U.S. over the years, and although sometimes touring can be a grind like anyone’s work becomes, I have to say that in my line of work, there is always something new to enjoy. This time, my husband Andreas took a sabbatical from his work with the German [...]
