Tish's Corner
March 2006

Hello All,

I am at somewhat of a pausing point. It is late February, about to be March. I just completed a nine day / seven show tour in Holland. We always get such a warm welcome there. I especially appreciate that in midst of bitter winter winds, which there was plenty of!

We had some bad and good luck going on with this tour. I originally planned to be accompanied by well-known guitar player and studio engineer Folke Jensen from Hamburg, Germany. A couple of days before departure, Folke took ill and couldn't make the tour. I got on the phone to Austin. Long story short, Marvin Dykhuis came to the rescue. I appreciate that other friends back in Texas were willing to re-schedule in order to make this happen, especially because it had to happen quickly.

Many of our Dutch promoters and fans were quite surprised at the sudden apparition of Mr. Dykhuis. Although it has been a few years since I have had the pleasure of his company on a European tour, no one has forgotten his playing. His sound is what has filled most of the records I have released. Well, enough to say that it was a great reunion for all of us. I had really been looking forward to working with Folke, and I'm happy to report that he is better now. Maybe sometime in the future I can have both of these fine musicians on stage together. That would be wonderful!

Another crazy thing to happen just before this tour was a mishap with my hair. I talked about it on stage a time or two, but the rest of the time, I was mostly just trying to get comfortable with the fact that my head looked like a nun, who had her habit suddenly pulled off. My hair has never been a point of vanity for me, it has just naturally been a focal point of my appearance, I suppose, beside my eyes and my nose. I have never been able to do much with the latter, however, my hair gave me something to work with.

It is thick, it is straight. A blessing and a curse. Cutting and trimming this is tricky. However, a mistake can usually be covered up by creative use of clips, ties, hairspray, and always, "the bun". My error occurred when I refused the assistance of these items. I got a trim I wasn't happy with and tried to correct it by having it cut again, then again. Then I tried my own scissors. Then that needed fixing. Before I knew it, my next choice would be to shave it all off. Then, of course, I'd have to face looking like one of those chia plants growing it back out. (You know the ones, at the entrance/exit of Wal-Mart, the ones you always wonder "Who actually buys those?".)

After "Dreaming from the Labyrinth", when my hair was at its longest, I made a decision to cut it. That went along with other changes going on at that time. It was my plan. A look. I had it cut by a stylist. This time it's just here. There is nothing to read into it but "What's with the hair?" I am resigned to waiting, to waking to see, what direction it is pointing to today. At least it makes for the day starting out with a good laugh. The rest of the time, well ... I'm not ready for the convent. Good thing it's still winter, a good time for hats.

On to other things. We are working on improving the website. And, in general, communication and management. We are trying to get my music into areas, even in the U.S., where we haven't played yet, or at least not much. Do check the upcoming "Tourdates" on the website for additions and updated information on the road. Keep an eye out on other areas like the "Photo Gallery", memorable archival pictures and recent road shots coming up real soon! We may need to note that the most important thing at the moment is signing up for our Email Newsletter. An unknown number of addresses were lost in the last couple of years. If you don't mind, it would be a great idea to sign up a-new (here), so you can get regular updates from Mundotish.

Speaking of improvements, we are still working on the release of the famously absent DVD. Unfortunately, clearing this has taken a lot longer than we thought. I appreciate that many are asking about it. We are trying our best to get this out as soon as possible. We'll keep you posted on that also. Again, it is great that there is much interest. I look forward to being able to share the stories behind it with everyone.

That's it for now. I hope the weather and the times are kind to you. Springtime may already be beginning where you are. I am enjoying the remaining winter days in Hamburg. I am giving thought to possible upcoming writing and music projects. I also look forward to continued promoting of the latest baby, "A Heart Wide Open". Some of you might have just picked it up on this recent tour in the Netherlands. I'm glad to say we sold a few! Hope you are liking it as much as we did making it!

Love,

Tish
